Randy,

 

The person I learned from was doing 3% on a consistent basis and others I found that employed the same strategy averaged about 3% or more, so it seemed reasonable to take that as a target.

 

I started trading this strategy in 2009.  In 2008 I sat out the market altogether and had a 0% return, although the documented return from my coach was 37.4% in 2008 so I believe this strategy did well during that time as well.

For the past 6 months, you've been ahead of a SPY benchmark. But that was only half the return of a SPY benchmark in the 6 months before that.

How do you choose a goal of 3%? Did you have that goal in 2008, and did you meet it?
