[TheOptionClub.com] Options Sectors

The easiest outline I've come across for stocks and their corresponding groups/sectors is on Toni Turner's site. Would someone be kind enough to recommend a website that ranks these groups/sectors each day or week? I appreciate the help.

[TheOptionClub.com] Re: Live Presentation With Don Kaufman from ThinkOrSwim

Chris,

As luck would have it, about halfway into Kaufman's enthralling presentation, the power failed at my house. The neighborhood transformer blew out. Five hours later we had power again. Lost all my notes, and of course the end of the seminar.

When you have this presentation available as an archive, please post on how I can finish viewing it.

These Texas summers are murder on electricity distribution infrastructure.

Thanks in advance,
Steve G

Re: [TheOptionClub.com] Old Leaps What to do?

Why not sell calls against it? Wish I did that when I had a leap on the Japan index.
You will get a P&L profile to watch too.

[TheOptionClub.com] Old Leaps What to do?

I've been stuck with a leap position in GBX left over from the days I was experimenting with CSE techniques. I owned the stock, was selling calls against it, but then the stock just tanked. One of the CSE techniques of rescuing the trade involved exchanging the stock for a leap, and now I am stuck with 10 of the GBX Jan10_20calls. My cost basis is $8.84 and it is now at 0 bid, .30 ask. The leaps were purchased in March of '08. I haven't done anything with this position since last September except to watch theta eat away at it while the price of the stock continued to sink. Anyway, is there anything I can do with this position to maybe generate a pittance of income until it expires? Any ideas at all?

Thanks,
RFH

RE: [TheOptionClub.com] jellyrolls and boxes

With all the technology out there it’s really archaic to calculate boxes and rolls. Yet, I have a fondness for these exercises. The point is to 1) look at and understand synthetics to see if there are possible price opportunities (i.e. arbitrage which is rare but does occasionally pop up for a moment or two) and 2) get acclimated to how option relationships work and evolve. This latter is where the real training can be beneficial in the long run. It’s sort of like learning and practicing very fundamental strength and endurance training while preparing for say a triathalon. If you can continuously and comfortably flip the calculations of boxes around in your head you will be gaining very deep understanding of price movement and price relationships. I am still fond of looking at butterflies across maybe +/- 5 strikes on all the instruments I trade.  Nothing gives me a better feel of how volatility is changing and that info can provide all kinds of tradable opportunities.

Opinions can vary, but I think jelly rolls are best left to market makers.

does anybody used jellyrolls and boxes to determine which is the best calendar to used(put or call calendar or vertical(bull call, bull put, bear call , bear put) for boxes. what difference does it make using these techniques. i have watch some of Dan Sheridians videos and  Ron Ianieri videos and they used these techniques to determine which is best to used. are these just market maker techniques, and does it matter if regular retail traders use these for finding the best strategy to used.

[TheOptionClub.com] bought a straddle

now I want to sell. do I need to sell each leg?
I want to let one leg expire, thus canceling the other leg

I use etrade; I bought the strattle, but I can't sell one leg after exercising the other except by doing it by hand. The platform is no help.
Does anyone know how to use the platform to cancel the other leg after exercising the one?
