Yea, it is a pain when people just add to a post. However, I have found that it is almost impossible to change their habits.
The initial list of posts are actually links to the start of the message. I find that clicking on the link to read the post then using the "back" key to get back to the list makes navigation much simpler.
What I REALLY hate is when people put the reply at the END of a long list of posts. I just ignore those.
