----- Original Message -----From: Ricky JimenezTo: OptionClubSent: Friday, May 14, 2010 4:49 PMSubject: [TheOptionClub.com] Some Remarks on the TOS Platform I know that there are many devotees of this software here. I have
been trying to learn it recently and have found some real concerns.
1. It doesn't supply the total of the credits and debits of the trades
made on a particular underlying, the kind of thing we look at every
day in the GS thread. On their Monitor-Activity and Positions tab,
you can find out the total P/L of the open positions in an underlying
stock. On the Monitor-Account Statement tab, you can find out the
total Mark which I think is the midpoint of the current bid and ask
for all open positions in the underlying. I suppose you can
approximate the total debit/credit for the open positions by adding
the Mark to the open P/L but they should supply it more conveniently.
It was explained to me that TOS thinks real traders are mostly
interested in how much they are up or down for the day, not for any
other time period. (Yes, that is really what a support person told
me!)
2. I failed in my attempt, using this software, to construct the
current P/L expiration graph of the GS trade. Since some people have
posted such graphs, it apparently can be done but I only saw how to
construct a P/L graph for a position based on current option prices.
Do you have to go into thinkBack and step through the days up to now?
