Yes….but not very well J
I try to do small positions of SPY credit spreads and calendars every month. I’ve had mixed success though. I’m still trying to get a handle on the whole adjustment thing.
As others have stated, I believe you can do pretty much any type of position as long as it is not naked. I’m not certain, but they might even allow naked puts as long as you have the money to purchase the underlying, since you are basically saying that I’m willing to buy the underlying at the strike price. I have not personally traded naked puts at this point.

The trade was rejected because margin is not allowed on IRA accounts. Spread Option trading requires margin as it is Level III of option trading. I have my IRA account with BrokersXpress which is somehow associated with OptionsXpress. (Not sure of the linkage, but I also have a personal account at OptionsXpress and I can access both accounts from either account on the web platform. In fact the platforms are identical). Anyway, I have many different option strategies going on in my IRA including condors, diagonals etc. Question: Does TOS allow spread trading in their IRA accounts, or have they possibly disallowed them after TDAmeritrade bought them out? Thanks, RFH |
