I second that. I went to see him in SF last November, and learned an
incredible amount that day. And the handout notes are invaluable.

The mentoring program sounds really attractive to me, too. I didn't
sign up for it immediately because, first, I wanted to try applying the
things I'd learned on my own, and second, because the cost would have
taken a sizeable bite out of my trading account. Of course, learning
from experience can also take a sizeable bite...

And even the best mentor can't protect us from ourselves all of the time
-- nor should he, maybe. I think we have to make our own messes and dig
ourselves out once or twice before we really "get it". Look at some of
the stories in Jack Schwager's "Market Wizards".

But I'm starting to reconsider. Researchers in psychology are finding
that talent is mostly made, not born; and that, in addition to endless
hours of careful "deep practice", having an expert coach or mentor is
one factor which greatly accelerates the learning process and increases
one's chances of success. (Look for an article in the Harvard Business
Review called "The Making of an Expert"; also, some recent popular books
such as "The Talent Code" and "Talent is Overrated".)
