Re: [ConservativeOptionStrategies] Question on computing P/L

 

1. Check the CBOE for market quotes at www.cboe.com
They do NOT offer any sort of automated downloads -- in fact they
PROHIBIT automated downloads. As you might guess, they would get
swamped if they offered a free service like that. But their download
process is very simple. Enter symbol. Click download... so for 10
stocks, it would be less than 10 seconds.
They give you stock price and EVERY option for EVERY month in csv
format -- easy import into Excel, or anywhere else for that matter.
(You can even write a Excel macro that will do the imports for ya,
but that is another subject.)

There are other services that will let you download for a fee, and
probably have more options, etc. But CBOE is the only one I've found
that's free.

2. For a for-fee service that does some (pretty good) analysis, lets
you track a portfolio and doesn't pester you with too much junk mail,
I like Power Options at www.poweropt.com
. and they even have a free trial period. I am not an employee or owner -- LOL
