[Option Insight] Burning the boats

Hi, everyone. I want to tell you a little story, but, first I want to let you know that it ends with me asking you to fill out a survey.

Now, I'm aware that I've done a poor job of keeping this group alive and that you likely have little incentive to invest any time just because I request it. However, I have a very enticing gift for those of you who fill out the survey, which I'll get to.

I've mentioned that I was laid off in December. Since then, I've been focused on trading as a career. It's a bit unnerving, since my wife is pregnant with our fourth child. (A son, after three awesome daughters!) That's why I say "Burn the boats." Legend has it that Cortez burned his boats so that his army would have no option to retreat, committing them 100% to victory or to die trying.

I have no intention of dying trying, so I am committed 100% to a career in trading. And part of that includes completion of the next generation Option Insight, as well as Exiteer, which is about half complete.

In order to build something that will be a commercial success, as well as something that *you* actually want, I'd like to understand how you trade. That's why I've created a 10-question survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HowYouTrade that I'm asking you to complete.

And to thank you for doing so, I will share the results of the survey with everyone who completes the survey. Wouldn't it be nice to have a little insight into how other people trade? Now, we're not giving away anyone's secret sauce here. But we'll all understand our fellow traders a little bit better. You give your answers, and you'll get to review the responses of hundreds of others in return!

Your responses will be anonymous. You would have to type your name as part of your response for anyone to know it was you. Your email address will not be included either.

Also, I am not going to share your responses to question 10, so feel free to express yourself fully there. It's just between you and me. But everyone will see everyone's responses to the other nine questions, so it should be quite enlightening.

Also, if you have friends who are active in the markets, please feel free to share the survey with them. It would actually be better statistically to also include responses from people who are not members of this group.

I'm committed to writing more, producing more, and trading more. It's now my livelihood. I've burned the boats. Hopefully that will prove to be a good thing for those of you who have stuck with me for all these years!
